City Mayor Salvador G. Escalante Jr., in compliance with the DILG Secretary Eduardo Aῆo’s directive to all Local Government Units (LGU) to be on state of preparedness and to take all pro-active steps to stop the spread of the disease, created an Inter-agency Task Force on Coronavirus (COVID-19), known as COVID-19 Task Force, through an Executive Order No. 003-SGE last February 10, 2020.
Secretary Eduardo Aῆo’s directive came after the health authorities confirmed the first case of coronavirus entry in the country. All LGU’s nationwide are advised to create their task forces to implement the Department of Health (DOH) protocols and guidelines.
The task force is also assigned to ensure that health authorities have necessary equipment and protective gadgets, cause the referral and transport of Persons Under Investigation (PUI) to DOH designated coronavirus hospital/center, in coordination with the police authorities, and train health workers on prevention, containment and control.
The composition of COVID-19 Task Force were chairman Mayor Salvador G. Escalante, and co-chairmen Councilor Sheila Tabanao and Dra. Ma. Victoria Ibanez.
