Mayor Salvador G. Escalante Jr. bagged the country’s Most Outstanding Local Chief Executive Award for his exemplary and comprehensive social and health services programs by the Nation Builders, and Most Sustainable and Liveable Community (MOSLIV) Awards last March 19, 2022, at the Okada Manila, Paranaque City.
A lone recipient of Negros Occidental and one of the two of Western Visayas, Mayor Escalante Jr. is an outstanding Mayor in the Blue Category. He joined with Mayor Arturo Robes of San Jose del Monte City (Bulacan), Mayor Marjorie Perales of Toledo City (Cebu), Mayor Jose Relampagos of Panabo City (Davao del Norte), and Mayor Nielo Tupas of Barotac Viejo (Iloilo).
Mayor Escalante Jr., along with the Working Team, said that he has dedicated his Honorary Local Chief Executive of the Year award to the people of Cadiz City.
According to the mayor, “their best efforts at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic” are what caught MOSLIV’s attention. “I cannot say we are the best. But the fact is, amid lockdowns, we did something noteworthy that our people valued much”, he said in an interview with the Panay News.
In its anti-COVID-19 vaccination drive, City Health Office has disclosed that as of March 16, 2022, Cadiz City has already inoculated over 82% of the population.
The Nation Builders and MOSLIV Awards has awarded Mayor Escalante “for laying down the groundwork for the progressive and sustainable development of Cadiz City”. The Awards acknowledged that “as his city experiences rapid development, he has not forgotten to pay attention to the city’s environmental management programs, most especially the full implementation of Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000”.
The Awards also added that “these programs focused not only on educating the citizens and promoting best practices, but even prompted the LGU to establish an Advanced Sanitary Landfill and Material Recovery Facilities in every barangay. He has also made Cadiz City a gateway and premier center for agro-fishery resources in the province and transformed the city into a major entry point of agri-development through his Agriculture and Food Security measures”.
MOSLIV Selection Committee validates the high ratings for the intangible assets of the Local Chief Executive’s leadership, reassuring constituents that their elected government officials well serve them.
The MOSLIV added that the sheer reputation and image is a high motivator for officials. This reinforces with high morale and employee loyalty to its administration. The best management wants to work for the best people, where both suppliers and constituents are reassured they are working and dealing with transparency.
The MOSLIV Community Award is a yearly project by Sustainability Standards, Inc., a group of international interests in developing individual family, community, local government units (LGU), national government, and non-governmental organizations (NGO).
Most Sustainable and Liveable Community Awards carries its mission through Sustainability Standards Entry Level based on organizational structure and development, resource management, change management, innovation, action management, and sustainability./*
